November 2025: Plastic Odyssey Around the World

Discover Plastic Odyssey’s latest projects worldwide, on the ground, tackling ocean plastic pollution.

Spotlight on Plastic Odyssey projects in the Philippines

Plastic Odyssey continues to expand its presence in the Philippines, where the deployment of decentralised recycling micro-factories is emerging as a concrete solution for isolated islands and rural areas. In 2026, the ambition is to scale up nationwide and diversify the applications of recycled materials.

An incubation programme in Manila and Cebu

A new incubation programme will launch in Manila and Cebu to support early-stage entrepreneurs. The objective is to train future micro-factory operators as well as project leaders developing services linked to the circular economy. The programme will offer technical training, machine operation skills and support for business creation.

An R&D hub for emergency housing in Cebu

Plastic Odyssey is also strengthening its activities in the Visayas region through the development of the Cebu Eco-Shelter Hub. This research centre explores the transformation of recycled plastic into emergency shelters and school infrastructures that can be rapidly deployed after climate-related disasters. The project aims to standardise designs, test their structural strength and prepare for larger-scale local production.

New recycling unit in Laguna

In southern Luzon, a new recycling partner based in Laguna will begin operations in 2026. This facility will produce recycled plastic lumber (eco-lumber) for the construction of housing, decks, fencing and community infrastructure.

Recruitment in progress

To support these new activities, Plastic Odyssey is expanding its team in the Philippines. The position of Field Deployment and Maintenance Manager is now open. The role will involve coordinating the installation of micro-factories, supporting operators and ensuring the reliability of machines in the field.

A new milestone for 2026

The year 2026 will mark a turning point for Plastic Odyssey in the Philippines, with broader deployment, deeper integration into local ecosystems and renewed ambition: to build a decentralised, resilient recycling network firmly rooted in local communities.
