Call for volunteers: Board the Plastic Odyssey expedition ship in Bali

Recruitment in progress

Mission Pacific

Volunteer – 1 month

Plastic Odyssey is an expedition that travels the world in search of concrete solutions to reduce plastic pollution in the ocean. In July, the Plastic Odyssey ship will call at Bali, Surabaya and Jakarta.

For this occasion, we are looking for an Indonesian-speaking volunteer to join the adventure, board the expedition ship, and organize the following actions during the stopovers:

Boat tours for schoolchildren

Your missions:

  • Before the stopover: contact schools ahead of the boat’s arrival, and suggest that they carry out preparatory work to observe plastic waste.
  • During the stopover: organize and lead a tour of the boat, followed by a discussion with schoolchildren.

Plastic Odyssey adventure exhibition

Your missions:

  • Before the stopover: check exhibition texts and adjust translations if necessary
  • During the stopover: organizing exhibition set-up and dismantling

The volunteer will be welcomed aboard the boat (room and board). He’ll be sharing his daily life with the Plastic Odyssey explorers.

The mission is available from July 1, departing from Bali, for 1 month. After Bali, you’ll sail to Surabaya and then Jakarta. Transportation back to Bali will be provided by the association.

Application requirements:

  • You speak Indonesian and at least one of the following two languages: French or English.
  • You are available for the entire duration of the assignment (all of July).
  • You currently live in Indonesia or nearby
  • You have already taken part in awareness-raising/animation activities
