Mushrooms as an ecological alternative to polystyrene
In Ecuador, César has found a solution to replace polystyrene. Combining reishi mushroom mycelium substrate, wood shavings and wheat seeds, he makes blocks of different sizes. In brick form, these elements provide excellent insulation for construction, while in corner form they offer an environmentally-friendly alternative to commercial polystyrene packaging. Thanks to their non-flammable and biodegradable properties, these mushroom blocks provide a sustainable solution for both small and large-scale industries.
