A sturdy, lightweight gourd made from squash
The calabash is a plant from the cucurbitaceae family, which grows very well in tropical regions. In Senegal, Fallou transforms these large fruits into everyday objects: gourds, bowls, ladles, or spoons… The calabash is first cleaned, dried, then emptied before being cut and decorated. The calabash, once dried, is very strong and lasts a long time.
