Cocoa bean husks to replace commercial packaging
In Ecuador’s Esmeraldas province, the APROCANE cooperative reuses cocoa bean peelings from chocolate production to make biodegradable packaging. The peels are first ground, then sieved into particles before being mixed with hot beeswax. The food paper is then soaked in this mixture and dried. In this way, the chocolate bar can be carefully packaged in this wrapping, which replaces the original plastic wrapping.
